Completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSASM) is the first step toward getting federal aid for college, career school, or graduate school.
Every year more than $150 billion in grants, loans, and work-study funds are given to students, but you have to complete the FAFSA to see if you can get any of that money.
School Districts, Counselors and College Access Professionals across the city of Houston will be participating in a city-wide effort toward FAFSA Completion on February 20, 2014. This very important initiative will include free tax preparation for parents and students as well as assistance with completing the FAFSA. The locations where tax preparation will take place are called “Trusted Centers” and will be open throughout the city on this day. This event is being supported by many partners such as Centers for Houston’s Future, United Way of Greater Houston, CollegeCommunityCareer, and Houston A+ Challenge.
