College acceptance letters are arriving at HISD scholar homes across the Houston area and we are thrilled to hear about where our students are heading to college. Students are receiving letters full of financial aid offers, orientation dates, and even some are filled with confetti. Yes, it’s a very exciting time for our seniors as you all share the great news.
A word of caution though. Don’t forget to be safe about what you choose to post online. The majority of acceptance letters include personal information such as:
- Your full name
- Home Address
- Campus Student ID
We still want you to celebrate and tell the world you are headed for a higher education. We just want to be sure that you do it in a safe and responsible way. Ways to post responsibly:
- Do not post the letter in its entirety
- Post a picture of just the letterhead that shows the college name
- Post your new school’s mascot
- Be creative with photography
So go ahead and shout it from the mountain top! Tell us where you are headed to college by using the hashtag #HISD2College here on WordPress or Twitter. We would love to give you a shout out and celebrate you too.
You are well on your way HISD scholar!
